National Grid
National Grid own, operate and develop high-voltage electricity transmission networks and provides the principal natural gas transportation system for the UK.
National Grid had many thousands of drawings, stored in five Liquid Natural Gas storage sites; i.e. Isle of Grain, Avonmouth, Dynevor, Glen Mavis and Partington.
Storing hard copies of these drawings had its distinct disadvantages, especially with time to retrieve and also that they were stored close to a hazardous area.
tsaADVET imported NG’s MicroStation™ data and brought it under the control of document management software. tsaADVET also provided a fully out-sourced document and drawing management service to the five sites and for the hundreds of users searching and requesting data.
Now, any one of National Grid’s drawings can be retrieved within a couple of seconds. It is guaranteed to be the latest drawing, and if it is under revision, it is identified clearly in the interface and a warning message is displayed.
