BS 1192 is the British Standard that establishes the methodology for
managing the production, distribution and quality of construction information, including that generated by CAD systems, using a disciplined process for collaboration and a specified naming policy. BS 1192 is applicable to all parties involved in the preparation and use of information throughout the design, construction, operation and deconstruction throughout the project lifecycle and the supply chain.
tsaADVET have been working with its customer base to support the BS1192:2007 standard. This can be achieved by configuration within the standard version of CAB-i-NET, meaning no additional modules or customisation expense is required, as it is supported in the core software application. This demonstrates how flexible CAB-i-NET is to configure and adheres to our principle of developing software with no additional customisation requirements for each customer. Meaning standard software updates can be easily rolled out to all customers thus lowering the ongoing maintenance and support costs for both parties.
We are pleased to announce the completion of tsaADVET’s latest purpose-built warehouse.
Now for the big move, which will take approximately two to three weeks.
tsaADVET was pleased to be able to support the IMGS customer day by giving a short 20 minute CAB-i-NET
presentation focused on the creation, workflow and issuing of documents and CAD drawings. This resulted in a good interactive question and answer session. Many attendees have already requested further information on the CAB-i-NET range of software solutions.
IMGS gave a good overview of their software solutions including live web demonstrations of Location Publisher (link to http://www.imgs.ie/index/IMGS_LP) allowing access to powerful interactive maps with spatially referenced information organised into themes (e.g. Environment, Recreation, Planning, Roads etc.). Static information can also be published such as asset location and type, as well as real-time traffic congestion, engineer location information etc.
The presentations and information were received favourably by the delegates last Tuesday. Please find some of the
comments below:-
‘Thanks to you and your team for the excellent seminar.’
‘ We felt that the solution that you have developed is something that we should have adopted in the early years of our Programme, and are more than slightly envious of the functionality that your product offers that our current platform lacks.’
‘ There are always opportunities in the rail sector and I would have no hesitation in recommending your product for review when the time is right.’
‘We liked what we saw. It is entirely aligned with our own thinking.’
tsaADVET are looking forward to our next seminar later this year which will give us an opportunity to showcase our latest developments in the ever evolving CAB-i-NET Suite of software.
April 30th will see the latest CAB-i-NET Versions released. This includes many changes in functionality to
CAB-i-NET Explorer allowing thumbnails of images to be created, improved support for AutoCAD™ including nested XREF’s, attachment of DWF and PDF files, speed improvements for operating on slow WAN connections to name a few. There are also numerous updates to CAB-i-NET Workflow module including the ability to run third party macros during the processing of files and changes to resolving reference files etc.
CAB-i-NET Transmittal module has been enhanced to allow better searching for documents, support for distribution groups, native or published files and associated references (if applicable) can be packaged with the transmittal documents. The file packages (zip file) can be either saved automatically into a CAB-i-NET Explorer folder or exported from the system. Customers who have been involved with the developments believe they will gain significant benefits through the introduction of these updated modules.

As you can see in the
picture to the right, tsaADVETs New Office and Document Storage Facility is nearly complete. The cladding was fitted towards the end of last week leaving just the glazing to go onto the exterior. The next stage will be the office followed closely by the parking and landscaping. All very exciting.
tsaADVET’s next seminar will be held on Tuesday the 11th of May in The Naval & Military Club, 4 St James’s Square, London, SW1Y 4JU.
Delegates, including Balfour Beatty Rail, Atkins Rail, Network Rail and Invensys Rail, will see how CAB-i-NET software used within the Rail industry can deliver real savings to both themselves and their clients. Please see timetable below.

10.00 – Presentations
• Why the need for control of your data
• CAB-i-NET Software modules and demonstrations

IMGS are holding their annual Customer Day this year at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on Tuesday,
May18th. The Customer Day will commence at 09.30am with morning business session, during which tsaADVET will be demonstrating CAB-i-NET SharePoint, and also showing the updated CAB-i-NET Transmittal module. tsaADVET will be taking this opportunity to exibit the latest changes in the CAB-i-NET Explorer 2.14, scheduled for release at the end of April. This will be followed by a buffet lunch and optional golf in the afternoon with dinner in the evening.
tsaADVET commits to the future with its new office and Document Storage Facility. The steel for the new build in Holland Park, North Wales, has arrived today and the frame is due to be complete by the middle of next week, enabling builders to proceed with the laying of the floor slab. New photographs and updates will be posted throughout construction.
CAB-i-NET Explorer has been enhanced in many areas with features and benefits driven directly by our customers.
These include support for attachment of reference files in Word™ , Excel™ and PowerPoint ™ documents (OLE linking). Ability to allow files to be opened from the server, instead of copying the file to the user’s checkout path. There are many other improvements which benefit the users and administration of the CAB-i-NET system.
