tsaADVET’s customers have already deployed CAB-i-NET to their office locations outside the UK as they look to maximise their resources spread throughout the world. This enables a 24/7 design
process on projects and they are all on a common database of drawings and documents. To improve the performance further across the wide area network, CAB-i-NET has been enhanced to allow local replication of the CAB-i-NET database. This improves performance in obtaining information across the WAN. File replication and caching can be accomplished using any industry options the customers wish, due to the fact that CAB-i-NET does not store the file data in a vault environment. Working closely with our customers this development is currently in testing before being released later in the year.
As part of the development of the recently released CAB-i-NET Autodesk Inventor Add-In, the functionality of the CAB-i-NET API has been expanded. The new functions now available include, the ability to query a document’s state, request the latest version of a superseded document and perform 2-way IDL! For a full descriptive list of the functions currently available in the CAB-i-NET API, please contact support@tsaadvet.co.uk
tsaADVET are pleased to announce that the CAB-i-NET Explorer Autodesk Inventor 2012 Add-In has been released for the latest version of CAB-i-NET. This allows an Autodesk Inventor user to access the auto naming of drawing sheets,
creation and import including population and extraction of title block information from CAB-i-NET. Therefore allowing CAB-i-NET to manage the approval, issue, and revision of the drawings and images produced from Inventor.
Inventor is starting to be widely used for Mechanical design by many CAB-i-NET customers. This added functionality will be available within the core CAB-i-NET system for customers to use as and when required, at no additional cost.

CAB-i-NET Watched Folder is a new module currently in development, its purpose is to provide an automated way in which to import documents into CAB-i-NET Explorer.
Activated by dropping a XML “recipe” file into a watched folder, the system processes the “jobs” and automatically imports the listed files into CAB-i-NET Explorer along with all the relevant document properties and metadata. Although this module could be utilized to import historic or archived data as a one-off job. The main purpose of this module is to allow customers to automate the transfer of documents from other internal systems directly into CAB-i-NET Explorer, without the need for any manual intervention. Therefore, ensuring all documentation is managed and accessible companywide from one single application (i.e. CAB-i-NET), regardless of which system generated it!
BS 1192 is the British Standard that establishes the methodology for
managing the production, distribution and quality of construction information, including that generated by CAD systems, using a disciplined process for collaboration and a specified naming policy. BS 1192 is applicable to all parties involved in the preparation and use of information throughout the design, construction, operation and deconstruction throughout the project lifecycle and the supply chain.
tsaADVET have been working with its customer base to support the BS1192:2007 standard. This can be achieved by configuration within the standard version of CAB-i-NET, meaning no additional modules or customisation expense is required, as it is supported in the core software application. This demonstrates how flexible CAB-i-NET is to configure and adheres to our principle of developing software with no additional customisation requirements for each customer. Meaning standard software updates can be easily rolled out to all customers thus lowering the ongoing maintenance and support costs for both parties.
CAB-i-NET Explorer has been enhanced in many areas with features and benefits driven directly by our customers.
These include support for attachment of reference files in Word™ , Excel™ and PowerPoint ™ documents (OLE linking). Ability to allow files to be opened from the server, instead of copying the file to the user’s checkout path. There are many other improvements which benefit the users and administration of the CAB-i-NET system.
