tsaADVET was pleased to be able to support the IMGS customer day by giving a short 20 minute CAB-i-NET
presentation focused on the creation, workflow and issuing of documents and CAD drawings. This resulted in a good interactive question and answer session. Many attendees have already requested further information on the CAB-i-NET range of software solutions.
IMGS gave a good overview of their software solutions including live web demonstrations of Location Publisher (link to http://www.imgs.ie/index/IMGS_LP) allowing access to powerful interactive maps with spatially referenced information organised into themes (e.g. Environment, Recreation, Planning, Roads etc.). Static information can also be published such as asset location and type, as well as real-time traffic congestion, engineer location information etc.
April 30th will see the latest CAB-i-NET Versions released. This includes many changes in functionality to
CAB-i-NET Explorer allowing thumbnails of images to be created, improved support for AutoCAD™ including nested XREF’s, attachment of DWF and PDF files, speed improvements for operating on slow WAN connections to name a few. There are also numerous updates to CAB-i-NET Workflow module including the ability to run third party macros during the processing of files and changes to resolving reference files etc.
CAB-i-NET Transmittal module has been enhanced to allow better searching for documents, support for distribution groups, native or published files and associated references (if applicable) can be packaged with the transmittal documents. The file packages (zip file) can be either saved automatically into a CAB-i-NET Explorer folder or exported from the system. Customers who have been involved with the developments believe they will gain significant benefits through the introduction of these updated modules.
tsaADVET’s next seminar will be held on Tuesday the 11th of May in The Naval & Military Club, 4 St James’s Square, London, SW1Y 4JU.
Delegates, including Balfour Beatty Rail, Atkins Rail, Network Rail and Invensys Rail, will see how CAB-i-NET software used within the Rail industry can deliver real savings to both themselves and their clients. Please see timetable below.

Oce and tsaADVET are holding a joint Open Day. Oce have worked closely with tsa for many years due to their common
customer base. The Open Day is to be held at The Gateway To Wales Hotel in Flintshire on Tuesday 16th February 2010, commencing at 8:00am until 4:30pm, and will feature a selection of Oce Plotters, Printers and Scanners combined with demonstrations of tsaADVET’s Technical Document Management Solution, CAB-i-NET Software.
tsaADVET are pleased to announce that the current CAB-i-NET SharePoint™ web parts have been extended to include Location Check Out/In of drawings/documents and are available for customers. The new functionality not only allows users to easily search and view the data from CAB-i-NET but also Location Check Out/In the documents so they can be edited. Full support for Microstation™ and AutoCAD™ reference files is included as any attached references are automatically retrieved and downloaded in the zip file from the server.
tsaADVET have tested Microsoft Windows 7™ with all the current modules of CAB-i-NET and have found no issues. This means customers can upgrade to Windows 7™ with no impact to the existing CAB-i-NET implementations they already have installed.
tsaADVET look to integrate CAB-i-NET further with Microsoft SharePoint™. SharePoint™ is being used by many companies to make data freely available within their organisations. It can not, however, manage the complexity of CAD data such as Microstation™, AutoCAD™ etc. with their attached reference / Xref files, version controls requirements and business processes in terms of workflow. These are all areas where CAB-i-NET excels. Therefore, tsaADVET are extending their SharePoint™ integration to allow the existing CAB-i-NET SharePoint™ web parts to include Location Check Out/In of drawings/documents. This will allow SharePoint™ portal users to work on the files and check them back in from anywhere in the world using the internet, provided they have access to the SharePoint™ Portal.
Existing users of CAB-i-NET are extremely interested in these developments and will be working with tsaADVET during the development of the software that will be released later in the year.
Corus Group places an order for the expansion of the CAB-i-NET Suite of software into the Tubes Division at Hartlepool and Corby sites. Both sites are implementing SAP, and CAB-i-NET will be used to manage all the drawings and associated documentation.
The CAB-i-NET hyperlink in SAP PM allows users to seamlessly see the latest version of the drawings and documents from the CAB-i-NET system. The two systems are kept in step through update transactions.
tsaADVET is pleased to announce the release of CAB-i-NET Software v2.12. All modules have been updated including specific customer requested enhancements to allow CAB-i-NET to deliver even greater benefits.
Customer feedback on the enhancements to the CAB-i-NET Transmittal module shows significant savings in Document Controllers’ time to issue transmittals. Any CAB-i-NET user can also easily search to find where the document has been sent out to and when.
