Product & Company News from tsaADVET Ltd
tsaADVET’s customers have already deployed CAB-i-NET to their office locations outside the UK as they look to maximise their resources spread throughout the world. This enables a 24/7 design process on projects and they are all on a common database of drawings and documents. To improve the performance further across the wide area network, CAB-i-NET has been enhanced to allow local replication of the CAB-i-NET database. This improves performance in obtaining information across the WAN. File replication and caching can be accomplished using any industry options the customers wish, due to the fact that CAB-i-NET does not store the file data in a vault environment. Working closely with our customers this development is currently in testing before being released later in the year.
tsaADVET is pleased to announce that Signalling Solutions have selected the CAB-i-NET Suite of software to manage the creation of not only their design data but also the documentation generated across the organisation.CAB-i-NET was selected after an extensive review of the existing solutions in use and the latest products available from their suppliers, including Bentley’s ProjectWise. Andrew Frank – Director, commented “We are delighted that Signalling Solutions have chosen CAB-i-NET and look forward to working with them on the rollout of the software throughout their organisation. This contract win reinforces our view that CAB-i-NET is a highly flexible software solution that only requires configuration, rather than customisation, to meet the needs of the customer”.
As part of the development of the recently released CAB-i-NET Autodesk Inventor Add-In, the functionality of the CAB-i-NET API has been expanded. The new functions now available include, the ability to query a document’s state, request the latest version of a superseded document and perform 2-way IDL! tsaADVET are pleased to announce that the CAB-i-NET Explorer Autodesk Inventor 2012 Add-In has been released for the latest version of CAB-i-NET. This allows an Autodesk Inventor user to access the auto naming of drawing sheets, creation and import including population and extraction of title block information from CAB-i-NET. Therefore allowing CAB-i-NET to manage the approval, issue, and revision of the drawings and images produced from Inventor.
Inventor is starting to be widely used for Mechanical design by many CAB-i-NET customers. This added functionality will be available within the core CAB-i-NET system for customers to use as and when required, at no additional cost.
Atkins Rail extends tsaADVET’s 1st line CAB-i-NET support role for another period. tsaADVET normally provide 2nd line support for their customers but for Atkins Rail, 1st Line support has been provided for the last year via a dedicated telephone support line and email account. This is in support of the roll out of CAB-i-NET through the Rail business.
tsaADVET held a data transfer workshop for its Rail customers in Birmingham on the 8th July. CAB-i-NET is widely used within the Rail industry for managing drawings and associated documentation. CAB-i-NET customers shared their experiences of transferring data with their suppliers and customers. The data held in CAB-i-NET can be easily exported as it is not held in a proprietary vault based system unlike most other EDMS systems. Currently there are no standards defined for data transfer and this is something the group is looking to establish to bring efficiencies to all parties.
CAB-i-NET suite of software has been chosen by MIR Steel to manage all their site drawings and associated documentation. All data will be indexed and scanned into CAB-i-NET Explorer by tsaADVET and then made available through the CAB-i-NET Browser for works-wide personnel. This allows users to have instant access to view and print the latest drawings and documents to support the operation of the business. Further expansion to control general business documentation is expected in the future.

Inventor is starting to be widely used for Mechanical design in many CAB-i-NET customers and this added functionality will be available within the core CAB-i-NET system for customers to use if required.
tsaADVET is pleased to announce the forth coming release of the CAB-i-NET Explorer software. The development teams have been extremely busy over the last few months working with both existing customers and prospects to deliver enhanced changes to the software. These include:-
- Ability to auto number projects and files when a folder structure is copied therefore streamlining even further new project creation.
- Management of CAD workspaces within the CAB-i-NET environment which can also be created automatically by combining with the above new project creation functionality.
- File naming has been enhanced to allow Keywords to also contribute to the numbering of documents. This allows standards including BS1192, BIPS (Danish standard covering construction, information technology, productivity, collaboration) to be easily configured within CAB-i-NET with no customisation.
- Ability to create Local Working Copy of a file and can be used with any application including Autodesk REVIT.
- External databases can be linked to via an SQL query or view so data from other systems i.e. Financial system can be extracted and used in keywords within CAB-i-NET.
- Enhanced reference file capability allowing users to decide various options for updating and attaching references that have changed within the system.
- Intelligent Data Link allows the automatic extraction of pages, sheets, layouts and models from files held within CAB-i-NET.
